Harvest Open Day

18 September 2016 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Harvest Day Celebration

18th September  11:00 – 15:00

In March we took on a plot of wasteland with the aim of turning it into an organic demonstration garden to serve the local community.  6 months later after a lot of hard work we are harvesting our first crops.

To celebrate our achievements the Inspire Community Garden in Chesterfield is holding a celebration event to promote the garden and show off our future plans.  We would like to invite everyone to come on down and see what we are doing, what our plans for the future are and how you can get involved.

Activities happening on the day are:

Site tours

Tours of Garden:

Volunteers will be on hand throughout the day to give tours of the garden showing off what has happened so far and our plans for the future.

Sale of vegetables, cakes and other goodies:

A chance to buy for a donation a selection of cakes and goodies made using produce from the garden.  Fresh vegetables from the garden will also be available.  All donations will be used to fund further work on the Community Garden.

Pot painting and bulb planting for children:

Come and encourage your future gardeners through growing their own plant.  Children will be given the chance to decorate their own pot and plant a bulb that they can then take home and watch grow.

Competition for heaviest potato:

Think you have grown the biggest potato in Chesterfield this year.  Then bring it down and have it weighed, you will be entered into Transition Chesterfield Potato Day competition with prizes for the heaviest potato. A prize worth £25 will be given to the largest potato weighed on the day!
